BRING A FRIEND or TWO!!!!
Sisters, we would love to see you at our quarterly enrichment meeting that will celebrate the birthday of the Relief Society!! We will be having a service auction, because service is an integral part of the Relief Society. We all need and can provide service to others. The dress is church dress.
At the service auction you will be handed a list of questions to answer and you will earn "points" based on your answers to the questions. An example might be, did you wash your dishes, or did you read your scriptures that day? After tallying up your points - no one sees your answers but you - you will tell the "banker" how many points you had and she will give you "money" for those points. You will use this money to bid on items that are auctioned.
You will need to bring at least one item to be auctioned. If you bring a guest it would be much appreciated if you could bring something for them. The intent is that each sister will go home with at least one item. If you're able to bring more than one item/service offered, that's even better - then there will be more to "win".
Some examples of "items" you can bring are a plate of cookies, brownies, a loaf of homemade bread, or other baked goods. You can bring a blanket or other item that you sewed, a photo frame that you decoupaged, a scrapbook (with no pictures, obviously) you made, or any other hand-made item you are crafty enough to make.
"I'm not crafty", you might be saying. Or perhaps you don't think highly of your own baking skills. Well, you can donate a service! Perhaps you'll donate a piano lesson or lessons, or a haircut, or you'll mop someone's kitchen for them, or watch their children for them to go on a date, or to the temple. The possibilities of acts of service that you can provide are endless and these kinds of "items" are the best at getting to know the sister you're providing the service for. They're especially easy to donate more than "one" too. Doing so will ensure that there are plenty of items for everyone to win. You don't have to bring more than one thing though - if you can't, that's perfectly fine.
If you have any questions, please get in touch with me (Marie McClellan) and I would be glad to answer them.
Oh, and did I say....BRING A FRIEND - they'll have so much fun!! ;)
